- What Matters
It’s on my Mr. Conscience but he can wait for later,
I’m a lover of time but time is a hater.
It threatens my existance with every moment lost,
but who said with every gain there has to be a cost?
Thank you a million lightyears for always being true to you,
I’m so sorry for being me but what’s a girl with only her hope to do?
You deserve nothing less than every star in the dreamers' sky,
I hope there’s an out of this world angel waiting to help you fly.
If I ever had the confidence, if I was ever the least bit deserving,
if you ever found the heart, or my simplicity unnerving-
Maybe we could find the loophole that puts us side by side,
let your love inspire me and the angel be your guide.
It’s an accident to get peanut butter in the jelly jar,
but they go so good together and that’s just the way things are-
You and me honey, we’re a bittersweet not-meant-to-be,
but that’s a mistake worth making if it means always having we.
Well they say there’s a lot of fish in this big blue sea,
so what are the chances you were swimming right in front of me?
It’s true I’m not much of a believer in love at first sight,
but fate is my religion and now I’ve seen the light.
So maybe I don’t deserve you, but maybe I don’t care,
maybe we don’t belong together, but life is hardly fair.
So maybe you don’t love me, but that’s the risk I’ll take,
I’d rather be a happy dreamer than hopeless and awake.
Every second I think of you is stolen by the thief of time,
but please, Mr. Conscience, tell me it’s not in vain to make my worries rhyme.
It’s only slightly ironic that for this loss you’ve always been the gain,
that the warmest smile of sunshine can only follow the coldest rain.
