The soft chirping of my heart
pulsing my cotton bed,
I can hear it.

Today it beats once
but beats for me always.

The Zen philosophy is a practice "subtractive", as Natalie Goldberg stated in . This poem was crafted not by sitting down and forcefully churning out a reflection, but by simply letting the right moment naturally arrive, and then take off shaped by the right words.
