I don’t have to compete for you?
Bulls*** I don’t.
Every morning I smother my face
With make up and crème
Trying to look stereotypically pretty
By, anyone’s standards.
I brush, and re-brush my hair,
Only giving myself a headache.
Waiting for the judging
One through ten.
I want to love
And in return, be loved.
I spend countless minutes
Trying on outfits
And staring at all my flaws,
Only to obsess over the unfixable things.
I compete as I breathe.
Walk.
Speak.
Live.
I am competing for your love,
Always.
Don’t ever forget that.
