somebody took,
took us –
our personalities, and put them
in a glass jar
they put us there,
put us there + shook.
and we watched, uncaring, as we melted
together.
leaving only one.

we got lost in a sea of uniformity
and silence, forgetting ourselves.
no individuals,
a masquerade ball of personalities
a facade,
a uniform,
a trap
for a thousand souls.

You were born an original; don't die a copy.
Smile. It kills them to see you happy.

I love your writing! This was the first poem I ever read from Teen Ink (so about four years already!) but this poem is still my favorite on this site. It's such a creative way to describe society. Can't wait to read more of your work!
