Wounds That Never Heal

It happened so abruptly,
On that dark strange day,
I awoke without thinking,
But to my dismay,
He had slipped out from under,
The cozy warm covers,
And found a new bed,
With another lover,
A distressing chill struck me,
The betrayal grew stronger,
Every second that passed,
My world it got smaller,
Weeks passed by,
But time stood still,
Heartache and lies,
Wounds that never heal.
