a slave to your soul

I scream and no one hears,
I hurt but no one heals me.
I watch you take my soul
but no protest comes with my tears.
I work til I am boneless
I help when you can not see.
I am a slave
but I will not be heartless
I will take on the burden of others
I will starve to feed them
I give shelter to a stranger
and die for another
I will not let you see me fall
I will not tremble from the pain
I may be a slave
but I am too proud to crawl
