Monster

You hold me close,
monster.
Whispering other names in my ear,
monster.
Bind my hands to yours
and steal everything I have,
monster.
Every word I manage to get out,
rejected and repelled,
monster.
Spread the sheets straight,
hide me.
Monster.
Mouth smothered in the crook of your arm,
and words dropping to the ground,
shattering,
like me.
Monster.
Was it supposed to be like this?
Monster.
Were you always this way?
Pity.
Do i deserve each terror filled night,
Monster?
Did you plan this for us from the start?
Or have we changed?
The pillow biting,
and nail marks.
The screaming and the holding,
monster.
One day I'll be able to walk away
