I look out my window and what do I see?
Riots in the street
I look to my left and I can hear
The sound of children crying, people dying far and near
I look to my right and all I can smell
Is the scent of hurting souls that I know all too well

So why do I feel so alone?

Do you understand my pain?
Do you see why I’m hurt?
It’s because I look behind me and nobody’s there
I look in front of me, still no one there
I look to my sides and feel anger and pain
Because I stand here, alone

Alone in world where togetherness is supposed to be key
So why am I here, alone?
Alone in a place where my soul should be free
So why am I here alone?
We the people riot in the street
All I can hear is the sound of my feet
Alone

We are supposed to be the people who stand as one
We the people
We are supposed to be the people who fight as one
We the people
We are supposed to be the people who have a dream
We the people
So why are we all so alone?

Society isolates us because our skin is brown
They tell us we’ll never be anything
They tell us we’re the cowards
They make us feel as though we are nothing more than the mere dirt on the ground
We the people

We can no longer stand separate
We the people
We can no longer fall under the shadow of the white man who hurts us
We the people
We must fight as one, one unit, one sound,
We the people
