Fading
fallen in the snow
bitter cold
frozen branches
lay the ashes
beneath the blankets
of frost bitten snow drifts
your mittens don't fit
anymore
freeze the moment
when we were both kids
misfits making angels
by the trees
your nest is empty
no more puddles around our feet
to mark the floor
with frost bit memories
and that December breeze
I'll lay the ashes
beneath the blankets
when your free
