There is a little girl at the window

She smiles down at me, pressing her stubby little fingers to the glass

There is a little girl at the window

She beckons me to come near and come closer but I only intend to pass

There is a little girl at the window

And when I simply try to walk away she begins to cry

There is a little girl at the window

Tears slip down her cheeks and they continue to fall from her horror-struck eyes

There is a little girl at the window

She beats on the glass, mouthing unheard cries in my direction

There is a little girl at the
window

She's longing to reach me but, can't manage to get past her reflection

There is a little girl at the window

And when I try to run for her she moves away and there is no one to free

Because now I know that the little girl in the window was me

This is so beautiful I don't know why no one else has commented! The rhyme is really effective and gives your poem a nice rhythm. Could you please give me some critique on a piece that I recently posted? Thanks so much!
