Summer of Two Lovers

sunlight even and unbroken
flowing and setting
on the fields turned golden
warmed by the summer heat
blue sky wide
big that brings
me awe
you always said
awe was a hollow
feeling of pure
and unmarked
beauty
we were running
free then
the fields were home
a sanctuary that
seemed set aside
just for us
goodbye seemed too sad
at the time I didn't
say it but now
I wish I had
so long ago it's
just a memory
of a memory
we were dreaming
then and only
now do I
awaken
to realize
I wish I could
keep dreaming
