Grains of sand stick in between my toes
as I walk across the washed out
brown planks of boardwalk
whose shadow throws a cape over cigarettes
stuffed and twisted in mounts of beige
Closer to the ocean
gusts of wind pull a yellow umbrella from the beach
A woman covered with white lines
of unabsorbed suntan lotion runs
after the tumbling umbrella
Above, jet planes pull strips
of advertisements through the sky
I stand at the shoreline
Water rushes around my toes
and my feet sink in the shelly sand
