Let Her Be

Let her be
Let her sit there staring blankly into space.
Let her be
Let her listen to the droning voice of the screen
Let her be
Let her waste away her life like a rose in the middle of a hot, dry desert
Let her be
Let her lose her sight and hearing until she has nothing left
Let her be
Let her eyes never blink and mouth never move
Let her be
Let me go away and never come back and let her never care
Let her be
Let her laugh at everything and hear only laughter in a world full of hardships
Let her be
Let her reality be nothing but a small room and screen
Let her be
Let the doll sit on her shelf unaware and unconcerned
Let her be
Let the couch beneath her wheeze and heave with her weight and forever be imprinted with her shape
Let her be
Let her sit there like Mary listening intently to what makes her happy with no thought of others
Let her be
Let her sit there and be
