Reserve

I am drained
my passion is concealed
by an illusion of contentment
the smile on my face is agony
the very depths of my eyes are misplaced
and a flicker of feeling surfaces
and then grows faint
no one will ever know
my hurt
my grief
my affliction
because it’s hidden
underneath my reserve
