Maybe, just maybe
I could just live my life
and forget about all this world's
troubles and strife

Maybe, just maybe
for once, they'd let me be
a teenager while
I'm still young and free

Maybe, just maybe
they would stop controlling
all of us kids
by constantly consoling

Maybe, just maybe
they'd finally get
we could handle the knowledge
if they'd only permit

Maybe, just maybe
they'd stop demanding
and give us a break
with sympathy withstanding

Maybe, just maybe
they'd understand
that we don't fend well
when under command

Maybe, just maybe
I'll end up just fine
in this unpredictable world
that can be so malign

Don't you ever wish they'd just leave you alone? trust you to make the right or wrong decision by yourself?
