sun beating on our heads

Dark blue fitted Yankee cap
gently placed on your dark brown hair.
Sun beaming off your face
the eye-catching smile that I love.
They lost.
it didn’t matter.
This is where I want to be.
Gum,
green sticky gum
everywhere.
Idiots leaving gum
where my feet go.
Stuck to every
part of my shoe
the perfect white on the side
of the shoe,
covered,
green everywhere.
And yet it still didn’t matter.
