Driving In the Dark
I love the calm
of driving in the dark.
I can look out the window
and see nothing but lights.
I can let the time slip away because I am not in control.
Everything is quieter
while you drive.
Air feels heavier,
and hangs around you.
Cloaked in darkness.
And the simplest sound can become,
the most beautiful song
and wrap you up in the melody.
