Valentine’s Day
It’s the same every year
Friends walk the halls with gifts
While I stare with jealousy
Hiding my empty hands
At the day’s end
I give a blank stare
As my windshield crackles in the bitter frost
The same ice crystals
That consumed my heart
But my blood is warm
My smile fogs the glass
Winter is now jealous of what I just received
The crimson on my cheek
My first kiss from you

I feel like I could relate to this in many ways. Every year in school I would walk down the halls or sit in the classroom watching people's face light up as they opened their gifts. It was heartbreaking and I had pure jealousy. My freshman year of high school, I finally received a gift; although I did feel bad for the people who didn't have one. I love this piece. Great job!
