This issue, for me, is nothing new
You flamed my homosexuality
I could write this villanelle just for you.

Girls who love girls are nothing new
After all, didn’t you love me?
But I promise I wont write this for you.

Hatred from strangers is nothing new
You and I faced our share of brutality.
I should write this villanelle just for you.

The struggle for equality is nothing new,
It’s time America faced reality,
And I promise I wont write this for you.

I could care less, and this is nothing new,
About anyone else when you look at me.
I could write this villanelle just for you,
But I promised I wouldn’t write this for you.
