In a dream I meet my

deceased grandmother, my best friend

Her hair now grown back to its original silver
Her body now free of





deadly chemicals
The familiar perfume c

through my nose as I ask her
“How you doin Nan?”
She smiles that lovely recognizable smile and whispers
You looked beautiful at graduation.

The author's comments:
My grandmother was my best friend, and she died after fighting 37 years of cancer. She quit smoking so she could see my graduation, but died too years to soon.
