No matter what I do
I can’t help but think about you
The one so far away from me

And no matter how hard I try
I can’t seem to find
The person you might really be

I wish I could open that door
To your world, your sea shore
But it’s hopeless without your key

But it’s better this way
Because it keeps me safe
From regret and disappointment’s sting

So I’ll go living your life in my dreams
But you could never live mine
You’ll never know me

Distance has made me invisible
And though chance might make you able
I’d still be impossible to see

The only thing we may ever share
Is our love for the sea and its air
A love I know we’ll always keep

Time will soon pass
And I hope I forget at last
The thought of there ever a you and me

I’ll have nothing but a memory
That will soon lose its clarity
Of the boy that you use to be

And your eyes of oceans I’ll forget
No regrets to admit
Or disappointment’s sting

My grief you could never share
It’s impossible to miss what was never there
You will never feel the loss of me

Time will pass us by
And you would never know that I
Loved you like I do the sea
