Our creek,
kingdom of the past,
Is now mowed down,
scraped naked by bulldozers.
There’s a bald spot
in the kitchen
where the dog dish
used to be.
My shiny red patent
Mary jane shoes
with Dalmatians on the toe.
where to small years ago.
Simplicity draining
leaving me
like a girl
playing dress up,
Painted face.
Feet not filling
grown up shoes.
pretending she’s something
she’s not.
