Rejection

Frozen,
sadness overcomes me,
and I feel the urge to cry.
My mind goes numb,
and my mouth turns desert-like.
I want water,
and it begins to pour from my eyes,
as salty teardrops.
He tells me it’s okay,
and that he wants to be friends.
Anger builds up inside me,
as I remember all the things I converted for him.
I’ve changed my hair,
changed my attitude,
and I am given a broken heart,
in return for everything I did.
Does he honestly see the cracks,
forming on the surface,
of the happy outer shell,
that I created for him?
He was everything I wanted,
but now he’s everything I hate.
