Tiny Temptation

Silently I sit watching,
Waiting for him to pounce;
He sits watching,
Waiting for his chance.
Nothing.
Pressing his tiny black and white feet into the windowsill,
He gazes at the creature fluttering on the other side.
Desperately wanting it, he lunges
But quickly pulls back.
Nothing.
In the silence of the cold air,
You can hear his faint sound.
A mere clicking noise-
Tick-tick-tick as his tongue hits his teeth.
Nothing.
Getting ready to make the big leap,
He watches his prey,
Slowly he crouches low,
And makes the big leap forward ---
Glass.
