Dragon in the Night

Dragon’s eyes, bright as light,
Gleaming out through the fight.
Scales of emerald, glittering blue,
In the morning shining through.
Circling the castle, White.
His fire rising through the mist,
This heat sparked by one’s fist.
Guards in the gatehouse, full of terror,
Afraid they’ll make a fatal error.
No one dares resist.
His wings pound on the dark with furious might,
Thinking what he should destroy this night.
Here come a man on a horse,
Hopeful to win tonight.
