Her face a dark night,
no moon and no stars
Desolate, forsaken is she
The end like a snake swiftly gliding towards her
I shudder, I shake

Turning me away
her callous actions,
her words a penetrating knife in my tenuous heart
Needing to tell her it’s okay
be her rock, resilient, robust, steadfast,
a light to her darkness
But I can’t deceive her,
my choices a path that is entrenched,
I can’t, I won’t, alter my ways

Her face recedes
The darkness hovers
like a ghost haunting my mind,
twirling, dancing its way around me,
detaining, suppressing, asphyxiating me
I’m vacant inside

Yearning for her blissful, naive smile
the former delight that glimmered in her eyes
like stars that illuminated the darkness
Despondent, bleak she is now
Reminiscing, tears stream down my face
What happened?
my friend,
my love?
