I Thought About You Today
To my dismay, I thought about you today
Although I took off the “you are not my angel”, single-winged, diamond ring,
Although I removed you from the prom pictures
With matching tie shirt and dress; your corsage, my corset
I thought about you today.
It came in the wind as I crossed the field,
Hands in my pocket- frozen.
A gush blew my hair,
Strands flew opposite ways.
(Only you would understand how that could ruin my day.)
I thought about you today.
No-one else can gently sweep my hair back into place,
Then sweetly smile my frown away.
I have too much pride to tell you,
I’m too hurt to ask “how are you today?”
