A book lies waiting still

Sitting on the shelf
With its leather bound coat
And so you pick it up.

Sitting on a shelf
You wonder should you read it?
And so you pick it up.
You take it home with you

You wonder should you read it?
Its pages whisper secrets
You take it home with you
And its secrets are revealed

Its pages whisper secrets
They’re so tempting that you peek
And its secrets are revealed
And they are glorious

They’re so tempting that you peek
The veins of its mind glow
And they are glorious
Filled with wonder and terror

The veins of its mind glow
Bright with passion
Filled with wonder and terror
Half way through

Bright with passion
The plot thickens
Half way through
What’s in store?

The plot thickens
Questions arise
What’s in store?
Only it knows
Questions arise
You can imagine
Only it knows
And it is so tempting

You can imagine
And so you pick it up
And it is so tempting
A book lies waiting still
