Beep, Beep, Beep

Beep, Beep, Beep
That is all I can hear.
I try and put it out of my mind
Beep, Beep, Beep

Beep, Beep, Beep

It is hard not to look around,
But it is harded to try and not look at you.
Beep, Beep, Beep

Beep, Beep, Beep
It is not that I don’t love you
Because I love you with all my heart
Beep, Beep, Beep

Beep, Beep, Beep
It is just so hard to see you look this.
Although it is not the first time you have been here in your lifetime
Beep, Beep, Beep

Beep, Beep, Beep
It is the first time I have seen you here.
I was too little to remember all the times before.
Beep, Beep, Beep

Beep, Beep, Beep
I think it is better that I don’t recall those times.
I don’t even want to think about this time.
Beep, Beep, Beep

Beep, Beep, Beep
It is time to leave this place,
You would think I would be sad
Beep, Beep, Beep

Beep, Beep, Beep
But I am not sad
I am happy to be out of there.
Beep, Beep, Beep

Beep, Beep, Beep
I say that I love you,
Then leave all the sounds behind me.
Beep, Beep, Beep

The event that inspired me to write this poem was my father being in the hospital in 2008. It was not a very easy time for me. I spent a lot of my time there, and while I was there I heard the sounds of the beeping machines so much that even to this day I can’t get the beeping out. I might have been too young the last time that my father was in the hospital with the other problems that he faced, but this time I am old enough to remember this as clearly as a bell. Although I say that I am ok with all that is going on, I am not. I bottle up all my feelings and pretend that I am fine. I thought if I would write something, then there would be a good chance for me to get some of all that I am feeling out. I will never ever forget this time in both his and my life.
