I doomed myself
Long, long ago
When I dared to enter
the realm of REM.

In my world of REM
regrets became shackles
to the hungry beasts
that I created
with my past actions.

Those I left
those I miss
All armed
with whips
and chains.

So I take
take the sacred fruit.
Whether juice or distilled
I swallow it
killing the kingdom
And banishing the
taxi for a night.
