a friend
A million times we needed you,
A million times we cried,
If love alone could keep you here,
You would never have to move.
Right here we love you dearly,
away we'll love you still,
In our hearts you hold a place,
No one can ever fill.
A light from our neighborhood is gone,
A voice from our love is stilled,
A place in this town,
Which never can be refilled.
Some may think you will be forgotten,
though in our hearts you never will, Cause in our memory you are with us,
As you always were before.
It breaks our hearts to lose you,
But you are not going alone,
A part of us will go with you,
The day you go forth to your new home.
Your precious memories are for keeps sake,
with which we never part,
God has you safely in his watch,
But we have you forever in our hearts.
