The Light

As if the earth blackened with
The tongue of ruse, absorbing
The streets with its lure of speech;
Its quickness of mind deceives
The words of the spirit spoken
Within the repented soul.
Its lies astray – alone, disturbed,
Mangled in the destruction
Of the heart’s ecstasy –
A skip of its beat, as if interrupted,
By the voice bringing comfort,
With the light of home.

I wrote this to express how we can be tempted to do wrong, but God's light will always aid us in the right direction.
