Writing

What I love most about writing is the transformation from thought to physical words, from words to picture and picture to life. Every book, and every movie started out as a thought; a dream, that miniscule spark inside the writer’s head that started a fire which would devour the world, and burn eternally. I love every single moment I spend writing. It can either be on paper, or on a word processor, it doesn’t matter. With each you start with a blank slate, and could become a literary phenomenon.

Another reason I love writing is because it could grow to be a form of immortality. Many stories have been told throughout time, and many have lived over centuries, some over millennia. A part of the writer outlives their body, and takes shelter in the minds of others. The world they created will always exist in one form or another. It can be inside words on a page, a picture on a screen, to characters consuming the lives of others, just for a few brief hours.

The thought that my world can become the world is almost overwhelming. There are unlimited options on what to create, and often I cannot even pick what to write. The letters I choose to type, or the words I choose to write could affect someone’s life. It could be a basis for their life philosophy, or how they should behave to capture the essence of the character.

My biggest fear of being a writer is that nothing will happen at all. That my work will not become larger than life, will never be filmed, no one buys the book, the story will not be published, or I decide against writing down a dream that could have stood the test of time.

The last reason why I am a writer is because I have hope. I believe I can make it in the real world, and that my work will be popular, and become a worldwide phenomenon. Why do I have such high goals? Because I know I can achieve them. I will always get better, I will always keep learning, and above all, I will always keep writing.
