It's the freedom of religion or the religious freedoms of our country that makes up our country, for we are the melting pot. And yet, there are some who choose not to accept this vast act that the government has given us and instead use their freedom of speech to speak out against this great act. Many of this lot are Christians.

Now I am not trying to be prejudice, or be against any religion in any way shape or form. I am merely stating that most of these people who judge other people's religions are Christian. These are the people who try to force their religion onto others. If you don't agree, then I advise you to reopen your history book. But let me be clear.

I don't want to hear all about the 'Jesus Loves you,' stuff that many a Christian spills. They hand me pamphlets, and little notecards that tell me that if I don't go to church, I will go to hell, or worshipping a pentagram means that I worship the devil. They belittle me when I say I've never had a communion before, only gone to church twice and that was for a wedding and a funeral, and squawk at me for never hearing about Sunday school let alone reading the Bible.

They stare at me when I pronounce that I am of another religion, one that they don't know or haven't heard about. Their mouth forms a giant oh. They don't ask about it, and instead make assumptions. Or if they ask questions they are rather out of this world, and things that I don't think I should have to answer.

These are not all Christians mind you. That would be presumptious. These are all and many, of different paths and ways of life, and different religions. Many of whom, aren't very accepting and rather ignorant.

I am not the only one who has trouble. There are many out there who have trouble. I have heard many arguments about religion from Jewish and Christian, to Hindu's and Buddhist. To Taoism and Paganism. There is not one clear answer.

However, it is not right to judge another's religion no matter how much you think is wrong, no matter how odd it is, or how odd it is that the person doesn't worship your religon. Just let them be. Go about your daily business. Because remember, here in this country, freedom of religion is the Freedom of Ours.

I'd like people to understand that you don't neccesarily have to agree with what someone believes in, but at the very least you should have the manners enough to be polite and just let it be. Don't insult them, don't push your religion on them, and don't make presumptions. Because, Freedom of Religion. It's that simple.
