I Am Offended

I am offended.

I can't pray in public

I can't sing "Joy to the World"

I can't set up a nativity scene in my front yard-

I'm "Shoving Religion" down "people's" throats.

I am offended.

Everyone speaks during the "moment of silence"

No one says the Pledge of Allegiance.

It's ok to drop the "F" bomb

But if I bring my Bible to school I'M crazy?

I am offended

Atheists can publicly denounce GOD ALMIGHTY

Catholics can cross themselves

But BAPTISTS are fanatics?

I am offended.

Liars have senate seats

Fools represent our nation

PRAYER was taken out of school

and no one has protested YET?

STAND UP, AMERICA!!

You know what? You don't have the right to NOT be offended. You have the right to whatever set of beliefs you want and the right to criticize or even mock the beliefs(or non-beliefs) of others and eveyone else in America is entitled to those same rights. It's not a christian privilage. As for the nativity scene that is an outright lie and you know that. No one can tell you what you can or can't put on YOUR private property.Government property however is a whole different story. Who c... (more »)

thepreechyteenager, I'll explain the "muslims run our country" line. It's the author's hatred for other religions, that's what it is, and it's a filler that the author decided to add because they couldn't think of any good reasons or arguments

I am a Muslim and I find you lashing out that we "run the country" offensive. We in fact, are probably one of the most misunderstood religions in America, especially since that indecent in 2001. We can not pray in school because of separation of church and state. because it can bleed into favoritism which amounts to in-equaltiy., I feel that a secular governemnt is the only one that can serve ALL the people equally. if you don't like it, move to a theocracy.

Thats right we misunderstand your religion be cause it shold be practiced in your native land. You know what? All you foreners come to America for what? Freedom. Right? Well America was founded under God. and the right to be free. So I say to you "May God Bless America"!!!

I was born in THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. and I know that my native land, AMERICA, is a democracy where we have freedom of religion. That means my religion can be practiced, here, in my NATIVE LAND, AMERICA. The Constitution, the guideline directing our FREEDOMS and laws, indicates that there should be SEPARATION of church and state, but still the individual rights to individual religious practices. And that is for everyone, from Muslims who think that god does not belong in politics, to igno... (more »)

geraco, you say that your soooo misunderstood but you don't even try to understand others. you say that you should be able to pray wherever you want but that Muslims should only practice their religion in their "native lands". your arguments are self-contradictery, so just give it up.

I love your article! I'm a Independent Fundamental Baptist and unfortunately, must go to public school. I have to listen to kids cuss nonstop, denounce our God, but once I say one godly thing, I'm looked at like I'm crazy. Lucky for me though, my somewhat small school does sing CHRISTmas songs, has a prayer group, and teachers for the most part say they believe in God. There's those times when I'm called a fanatic and I don't need to cause a scene, but I proudly ... (more »)

I believe you should have the right pray in public,
You should have the right to sing Joy to the World,
You should have the right to set up a nativity scene,
But you complain of intolerance and proceed to state, 'Muslims run the country','Mormons hand out garbage'?
For the love of God, for someone to take you seriously, don't be a hypocrite!

Now wait a second. Equal protection under the law for established religions does not mean equal validity of all religions. Indeed, logically speaking, when one takes the time to understand the differences between all religions, the only conclusion one can come to is that only one of those religions can be correct. The author's assertion that Islam and Mormonism are false religions isn't intolerance because he's mot saying that they should be legally forbidden. This person only wan... (more »)

you are paranoid. Christians are not under attack. Is equality a threat to you? also, try reading the torah, koran, & bible - and you will see that we are saying THE SAME THING in different languages. we still have freedom of religion, thank god (the same one we all worship). look up "Stalin communism". or "Iranian theocracy" this is what happens when we do not tolerate religious diversity.

No. They are not saying the "same thing in different languages". The Torah and Jewish Doctrine deny the divinity of  Jesus , which is central to the christian faith. The Koran states that  Jesus  was simply a prophet and a good man and also denies that he was ever crucified. If  Jesus  was not the son of God, and if he was not crucified for our sins, the whole Christian faith is null and void. Also,  Jesus  claimed to be the son of God i.e. the Messiah, so... (more »)

Details, details..... We have generally the same rules. So what if we disagree about how it all happened way back then? In different words, all of the morals, not stealing, not killing, love your brother- are the same. And Allah IS a direct translation in Arabic word meaning "God", equivalent to 'the father' in the trinity.

Nov. 22, 2009 at 12:54 pm :
So what if Allah is a direct transaltion of the word "God". All that says is that Muslims believe that Allah is God, not that Allah is the same God of the Christian Trinity. If you even took the time to read my comment before, you would know that the contradictions I listed aren't just about how everything came to be. They are about how everything is, here and now and forever. Allah does not advocate mercy towards those who make mistakes or stray, while Jesus does. Jesu... (more »)

Just thought I'd throw it out there that nowhere in the Bible does Jesus claim to be the son of God. He calls himself 'teacher' and 'healer', but he never claims divinity; that was a title that others gave him, rightly or not (and I personally believe the former). Please understand that people do read these comments... and articles. Make sure you have your facts straight or people will call you on it!
