I Am Offended

I am offended.

I can't pray in public

I can't sing "Joy to the World"

I can't set up a nativity scene in my front yard-

I'm "Shoving Religion" down "people's" throats.

I am offended.

Everyone speaks during the "moment of silence"

No one says the Pledge of Allegiance.

It's ok to drop the "F" bomb

But if I bring my Bible to school I'M crazy?

I am offended

Atheists can publicly denounce GOD ALMIGHTY

Catholics can cross themselves

But BAPTISTS are fanatics?

I am offended.

Liars have senate seats

Fools represent our nation

PRAYER was taken out of school

and no one has protested YET?

STAND UP, AMERICA!!

I don't think this was thoroughly planned. You jumped from religion to politics without any connection, and you're writing could have been more eloquent.

The writing style is different than what you are used to, that doesn't mean he/she did not think this through. The author obviously felt the need to include all aspects that offend him- be that politics to religion. It was easy to understand, and had more truth in it than most articles I have read.

Right. This guy doesn't understand separation of church and state, and would rather have the US as a christian state.

Perhaps You should. You seem like a very strong, convincing, mind and spirit. I believe you can if you try, but here's some advice and some truth that I believe in: you can't change the world with just a few protests, you can't fix the world with only your opinion...bla bla bla... what i'm trying to say is if you really want to take a stand do  something about it now or live the best way you can, being the best you *you can be(*not a typo) and show the world what y... I dont know if theres a state law in texas but last time i checked you ARE allowed to;pray in public and private, setup a nativity scene, bring your bible to school and sing religious songs.

Your also allowed not to say the pledge of allegiance, say f*ck,denounce god, cross yourself oh yeah, and believe in any religion you want

What are you arguing about, that people can express their religion too?

While I see (sort of) where this author was coming from, I disagree. Strongly. First, I feel that this article was not well thought out, well written and did not have supportive evidence to make it a stronger piece of work. I support the Pledge of Alligience being taken out of schools. Why should we make someone who maybe comes from someplace else suddenly ditch that by pledging alligience to America? Prayer was taken out of schools because of the Separation of Church and State. This makes compl... (more »)

What do you mean you can't pray in public? You can't sing Christmas songs? If you want to express your belives then just do it, change the world. No one can stop you from praying unless you let them.

I'm all for church but they can't put that stuff in schools. That's not what America is, sepetation of church and state and all.

Not trying to smack you down or anything but do what you want, Kid. Be somone and take a stand.

I respect your opinion, agree even, but it is not clearly stated enough in this essay to be an effective one. Your call for America to "STAND UP" is very broad- if you do have a real plan of action, I would love to hear about it, but I did not here. Also, your layout is very elementary- consider taking every statement and expanding on it with facts and real laws to make it a better-thought out essay.

Overall, I thought some of your points were valid, but it seemed like less of an opini... (more »)

First Amendment to the Constitution: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Where in that text does it say “I can say whatever I want, no matter how wrong, sexist, racist, homophobic, or otherwise offensive and no o... (more »)

Frankly, I disagree with you. One: I have tons of neighbors who set up a nativity scene in their yards (actually, there are some that are pretty extravagant, and although I am not Christian, they are fun to look at). Two: People do say the Pledge of Allegiance (and I don't see how that is relevant). Three: I have never heard people talking during the "moment of silence". Most importantly, four: the U.S. is not a theocracy. It is fine, even encouraged, that you practice your religion at will. How... (more »)

I have posted on this article before but I feel the need to post again; my last post was unclear.

Wake up; not everyone in the entire world has the same religion as you. Everyone has the right to believe what he/she believes, and though I am not an athiest, I do believe that in school, you are there to learn about academics. There is no reason for religion to be affiliated with public schools, because of the many differing opinions that people have. If you have a problem with this, the... (more »)

The Separation of Church and State is a completely sane and wonderful thing. What you are implying is that you would like to have everybody pray in school, or at least that is what i got from your passage. How would you feel if you were forced to pray in a Jewish of Musilum way at school, instead of Christian?

If we were to pray at our schools, then people from different types of religion other than christianity would be opressed. You can pray at any time in sc... (more »)
