Homework is one of those thing that some people think is very important and some people hate it. I personally think that it is not necessary, and it is counter intuitive. First, when you go home with homework, you are either one of two people. You either know what you're doing, and you are just wasting your time, or you don’t know what you're doing, and you need someone to teach it to you. So, in the end you are either wasting your time or you are super stressed.

Plus, with this, you must think of your schedule. Just for example let's take mine. I sometimes wake up at six to get ready for school and I get to school at seven-fifteen for my chamber orchestra/choir. School them starts at seven-fifty and goes till two-forty in the afternoon. Just a recap that’s seven hours of hard work; then I go to play practice till five. I get home exhausted and start on my homework, let's say two hours' worth. Its seven, I'm tired, and it's dinner time; by the time it's over its eight. I practice lines for my musical till eight-thirty, chores and now its nine-thirty. I get ready for bed and by the time I'm in bed and the lights are off at ten. Now let's recall our own personal time. Looking, looking, oh wait, there isn't any. That’s zero time for ourselves. You want to go on a run because it’s a nice day, well you can forget about that. You want to sit down with your family and watch a movie, that’s out of the question. For me, it's come down to waking up at four in the morning if my dad is home, so we can go to the gym because that’s the only time I must spend with him. My dad's job makes him go to west Virginia for a month then he comes home for two weeks. I try to spend as much time with him as I can. Maybe I could spend more time with him, if we didn't have homework.

Teachers say homework is helping us, but it really is hurting us more than anything. We must contain this homework problem. It is truly exhausting when you have no breaks. I honestly believe that homework is one of the main causes of depressed teens and is why people just sort of tired of life. You have all this anxiety building up in you and all you can think about is homework. We could be doing something more productive and more beneficial for our future but were always slouching over a table with a pencil and those math worksheets. One day our family is going to be gone and were going to think back to the days they were still with you and you know what you're going to remember? It's not going to be the family bike rides or walks. No, because they never happened, it's going to be you sitting on your kitchen table writing that T.D.A due that next day. We need to be able to look back and be proud of how we spent our few, precious, hours. “Wonder what it’s like to have a peaceful life,” Ron sighed, as evening after evening they struggled through all the extra homework they were getting.” this is a quote from harry potter. Even in popular books they are not for the stress of homework. So, let's stand together for the abolishment of homework.
