Cats: Rulers of the Internet

I will never understand why cats dominate the Internet. There are whole websites dedicated to cats, blogs and pictures dedicated to cats, and lots of videos about cats. When I interviewed a fellow student about why this is, her response was "Because they are freaking adorable!" I have never owned a cat, and never will, as I am allergic. But cats continue to rule the Internet. When I posted to Facebook about wanting a cat, my friend responded with "Spending too much time on the Internet?" My question is why. Why do cats, of all things, have the Internet in their paws? I think it is because they remind us of us. We do stupid things sometimes, like run into boxes and walls, and we can be adorable sometimes too. People like to caption pictures of cats, but we live these captions. We can talk and communicate to each other, and a very expressive, just like our feline friends. Cats. Rulers of the Internet. But what is really behind them?
