“Music in My Life”

Music has always played a part in my life; it’s been a major role in shaping me into who I am today. I’ve always loved everything about music and it never ceased to amaze me. I always loved music more than any thing else. At first I thought how could something so small and simple have such a huge impact? I started to think about everything that ever happened in my life and how music helped me every step of the way.

During my life I have had many difficult things that happened to me, difficult things that even some adults never experienced. Even at a young age I turned to music, to help me feel better by expressing my self or singing or even sometimes dancing to the music. It had always seemed like all of my troubles slipped away as soon as I put my headphones on drowning out the troubles of the world around me, even if only for a second.

I always turned to music to cope with all the violence, drama, yelling, screaming and anything else that was negative going on in my life or around me. But eventually I had so many feeling still pinned up inside I needed another outlet, so I turned to writing. I began writing songs, raps and poetry to express what ever words I couldn’t speak or feelings I couldn’t show. It felt like music was the only thing that understood me, like it was the only thing I know wouldn’t leave me.

I wrote about many things, things that people wouldn’t dare let cross their lips and flow into the open air. I wrote about things I saw going on in my life everyday. I wrote about my feelings that had been piled on my chest like bricks, making it hard to breathe. I didn’t care that people would judge me for the things they were too scared to say but knew were true. All I felt I needed to do was get these heavy feelings off my chest and express myself through music.
