Think Before You Hate

I have absolutely nothing against Justin Bieber. Actually, if anything I’d like to congratulate him on his achievements. I mean, think about it- he’s sixteen. How many sixteen year olds do you know who have already begun achieving such large goals? Justin Bieber is a teen pop sensation, and he’s not even a legal adult yet!

Unfortunately, there don’t seem to be many people who think like me. I know that there are enormous groups of people- mostly teenage girls- who have caught what is know as ‘Bieber Fever’… but I don’t hear their opinions nearly as much as I hear the other side.

Almost every time the subject of Justin Bieber is brought up, I hear comments of how he sounds like a girl and choruses of, “Ugh, I hate him!”

Everyone has a right to their opinion, but I can’t help but be upset by how quickly a person can claim to hate someone they don’t even know.

How can you hate someone you know hardly anything about, and that you’ve never even met? I won’t deny that you may dislike or even hate Justin Bieber’s music, and I’m not saying that I think you ought to listen to it. What I do think is that you should take a minute to consider just why you hate him so much.

I’m willing to bet that if most of Justin’s so-called ‘haters’ were to think about it, unless they personally know Justin, they won’t come up with any reasons besides ‘he sounds like a girl’, ‘I hate his music videos’, and ‘his songs are stupid’- basically, I doubt that they would have any reason besides his music to hate him.

I am not a ‘Belieber’, so to speak- I am not obsessed with Justin. I am, however, a believer. I believe that Justin Bieber, and anyone else who follows their dreams, deserves respect. Who are we to dash someone else’s dreams?

Don’t hide behind the excuse that Justin will never know if you badmouth him. What kind of an excuse is that? If you use it, it’s like you’re saying that you could kill someone because you think you’ll never get caught.

If you badmouth Justin Bieber, you are spreading that hateful feeling, and if it continues to spread like a disease, it will eventually reach Justin Bieber. Imagine, for a moment, that you are a new singer, and that you’ve started hearing hurtful rumors and seeing hateful webpages about how you have no talent. How would that make you feel?

Next time you find yourself hating Justin Bieber- or anyone, really- it might help to remember that feeling, and imagine how horrible you would feel if your words helped bring a person down.

So many of us say that we are trying to help create a better world. So let me ask you sincerely- how can we better our world if we are busy hating people for following their dreams?

Whether or not you like music by Justin Bieber is irrelevant. All I am asking is that you think before you judge others. It just may be that they don’t deserve your hate as much as you thought they did.

I believe people judge others so harshly to hide their own insecurities and inadequacies.  When we speak lowly of others, it often makes us believe we are somehow better than them in some way.  What most people don't realize is that the energy we put out into the Universe will find its way back to us.  Positive attracts positive.....and yes negative will do the same.  What do you want to ricochet back to you? :)
