Summary:

Fast-forward to present day. The ruling body of Illustria is a
five-person a council called the Pentad. Each great family holds
one position on the council; Herald, Guardian, Registrar,
Arbitrator, or Soothsayer, and only the councilors are able to
harness the unique magical ability of his or her family.
Lately the councilors having begun to drop like flies. Everyone
thinks it’s a second outbreak of the Weeping Death. Fee was a
victim of the disease the last time around and she is not
convinced. Neither is her brother Remy, the medical prodigy who
saved Illustria, and Fee, when he discovered an antidote to the
Weeping Death four years ago.
So if it’s not the Weeping, what, or who, is killing the
councilors? Why is Fee suddenly experiencing visions of the past
every time she closes her eyes? And who is the mysterious boy
that haunts her dreams?
