Broken Houses and Dead-End Fields
Summary: A young runaway is taken by BRIC, a "brain rehabilitation" center. Her brain is removed and her head filled with a BRIC-made Brain named Cordial. Cordial desperately wishes to join the rest of the human race and fill the shoes of her body. When she finally discovers some important memories, life seems complete.
Life is not complete for everyone, though. Someone lurks in the darkness, waiting for the moment to strike.
