   School lights glow through dark and mist.

The black track runs by under each stride.

Running through pre-dawn black, kissed

By countless rain-lips, I begin to make the wide

Turn into a straightaway. The sea gulls are

Not here yet. Instead of their whiteness, halogen stars,

Electric lights, the fuzzy, silent predecessors of

Gulls and dawn, punctuate the endless run-on sentence of black:

Dark goes on and on. I run through quiet on the ongoing

track.
