Since the day you left it's been lonely. Since the day you left I only got one phone call. Your room full of your stuff. Nothing touched. Since the day you left mom has been sad. Her little boy a soldier. I have missed you since the day you left. No more men in the house. Only women taking over the role. Since the day you left it's different without you. No one there to play video games with. Since the day you left I can't share my secrets. Since the day you left I feel like I lost my brother. The military taking you away to a new life. Since the day you left, I couldn't wait to see you again once you graduate in July. Traveling to Missouri to see my best friend.

What inspired me to write this piece were my feelings. My brother left and I felt alone. We were close so not having him around impacted my life. I couldn't wait for him to go, but I now I see, you never know what you have until it's gone. Now he's gone, and I wish I had him back.
