Us against the world

My uncle sat at his desk on Tuesday, I had just gotten home from the dance so I tried to be quite because I thought everyone was asleep. I noticed the light in his room was on,so I went in to say goodnight. He had a fountain pen that had been a wedding present, red ink and a revolver. I read over his shoulder and this is what he had written:
"To my loving family,I love you and I am sorry but I can't do this anymore. I am alone in this world. I can't handle life without my Tzeitel. I am sorry and you have given us a good home all of these years we have been in America."
He went to pick the gun up and I slappoed his hand away from it.
"Are you crazy?" I asked, "What do you mean you are alone in this world? What about Mom or Chris Or Refael? What about ME? Don't you remember what you said to me after Chava died? You said,'Birdy it's just us against the world now.' Don't you remember any of that?"
He looked at me and pulled me into a hug. We sobbed toghether for hours. He stroked my hair and threw the revolver away.
