When I was in the fourth grade, I would leave my mom and sisters after every Sunday service and ride shotgun in my older brother’s Buick Century station wagon for the half-an-hour car ride home. I would always make sure to buckle my seatbelt in preparation for the furious fun in-store. These break-neck races back to our village involved quickly switching lanes and plenty of speeding. It was one of those wild weekends when I first heard, “With so much drama in the L-B-C, it’s kinda hard being Snoop D-O-Double-G” hailing from the second single off Doggystyle, Gin & Juice. My brother’s car was outfitted with a custom sound system and advanced radio, so I could feel every lyric.

The laidback flow that graced my ears in these memories is the reason I need to connect with Mr. Snoop Dogg. Maybe if I hear his natural voice I’ll be able to remember some of those Sunday sermons.
