Mr. Reimann: Math Teacher

A teacher is someone who teaches, but my teacher, is not only that. He’s not just a good teacher, in fact, he’s an exemplary teacher. The teacher I speak of with such esteem is Mr. Matt Reimann, a math teacher at Troy High School. I would like to share a couple of the many reasons why Mr. Reimann, is one of the best teachers I will ever have.

Mr.Reimann teaches many different math courses at Troy High, proving that he excels in math. I take Trigonometry and Pre-calculus with Mr. Reimann. The class is difficult but having Mr. Reimann makes the class seem easier than it could ever be. He helps simplify the most difficult of problems and guides us, students, every step of the way to the right answer, and slowly we learn how to manage on our own. But don’t get me wrong, I am not suggesting that the class is simple; Mr. Reimann starts out with easier problems and leads us to the harder ones. The first problems that made us panic and want to scream now looks effortless in comparison, despite the difficulty level. Whenever I am lost or confused in math, he takes extra time to help me. Mr. Reimann is patient and truly wants me to succeed.
Mr. Reimann not only teaches, as a teacher is expected to do, but he makes the class fun. In many of my other classes I constantly glance up at the clock hoping for class to be over. In math class, though, I always have fun and enjoy the time I spend. Mr. Reimann is the father of three kids, so he understands teenagers very well. He knows the right things to say at the right time and he always has amusing stories to tell us whenever our attention starts to stray. The stories he tells are outrageous, but the smile in his eyes, makes it difficult to doubt him. His stories, from a glance seem pointless and entertaining, but inside is a lesson about life he is trying to teach us.

Math class is fun because of the great teacher I have, but what makes it better is that my teacher can connect with us and grasp our attention. For example, as a winter break project, we had to type up a whole entire report with graphs, equations and conclusions. My impressions of projects were that they were boring, pointless and took up a lot of time, yet this project was different. The topic of the project was CIA agents and the project had to do with missiles being fired at different degrees and elevations. I learned a lot from the project and enjoyed myself the whole time.

I learned so much from Mr. Reimann, lessons about math and, at the same time, lessons about life and how to live it. Mr. Reimann, you are a brilliant educator that has impacted my life greatly and I appreciate all that you do. Thank you!
