The number-one best-selling children's author Cornelia Funke has written many wonderful books such as the Inkheart trilogy, The Thief Lord, and Dragon Rider. Her sister, Insa Funke, who lives in Germany and runs Cornelia’s website, has obliged Teen Ink with an interview about what it was like growing up with Cornelia.

What was it like growing up with a sister like Cornelia?
“Cornelia is 14 years older than me, so we did not really ‘grow up’ together. But I spent most of my school holidays at her home in Hamburg, Germany.”

What do you do as a career?
“I work for Cornelia. It's my regular occupation. I take care of her website and fan mail and I am contact person for all general questions.”

Do you write?
“No, except for the texts for Cornelia's website.”

What are some stories/information about yourself?
“It’s quite boring, nothing interesting to tell. I live in Southern Germany, together with my husband and our dog.”

Do you have children?
“No.”

What is your favorite animal?
“Wolves and mountain gorillas.”

What are some of your favorite childhood memories with Cornelia?
“My school holidays at her home in Hamburg, summer time in her garden, a "Roman holiday" we spent together ....”

“Yes, we are.”

“Most of them.”

“No, never.”

“I like taking long walks with my dog in the woods, meeting friends, browsing book stores, watching movies...”

13. What is your favorite book?

"She's come undone" by Wally Lamb, "The Shipping News" by Annie Proulx, "The Philosopher and the Wolf" by Mark Rowlands.”

14. Where do you live?
“In Germany.”

15. Did you ever expect Cornelia’s success?
“No, neither of us.”

16. What are 4 words you would use to describe yourself?
“Chicken-hearted, crazy about animals, often thinking too much about evrything, hmmmmmmmmm .....”

17. Do you ever feel like you live in Cornelia’s shadow?
“No, never ever.“

18. Do you enjoy magic and fantasy?
“Oooooooooh yes.”
