   It punches you in your stomach,

It pulls your face down,

And makes you frown,

Recession ...

It quietly rips your pocket open,

And grins gleefully,

As your money tumbles out,

faster ...

And faster ...

And faster ...

Recession ...

For some it means eating cheaper food,

For some it means they are behind on the rent,

For others it's out onto the streets ...

Recession ...

It lowers the pay,

And raises the debt,

It makes money "The Issue"

In the upcoming election,

And in the individual families across the country

Recession ...

It knocks adults out of jobs,

And sends them scurrying to find new jobs,

Where there are none to be found ...

Recession ...

It's in the paper every day,

And the news every hour ...

Every channel, every station,

Every single one ...

Recession ...

Even the bravest are afraid of it,

For everyone feels it ...

It hits you where it hurts the most ...
