I think
We need learners' permits for history.
I'm as foolish about that
As my sister is about the car.
But I'm not sure I'll pass my test,
As my sister did.
Today I asked
If Arthur Pendragon
Was before or after the Crusades,
And I found out.
And,
Since I'd been wrong for fourteen years,
I cried.
What about Guinevere?
Lancelot and the Round Table?
Smash.
Crack straight across belief,
Like my sister will crack the car windshield
(My mind isn't covered by insurance.)
What about Robin Hood?
I won't ask.
I'll wait until they have
Learners' permit for history.
